Ellison Studios Raises Bedroom Design with Cohesive Collection
Ellison Studios has launched The New Bedroom, a collection that challenges the notion that bedrooms should be furnished with hand-me-downs. The range includes sculptural beds, beside tables, storage, seating, and occasional pieces, all designed with a focus on comfort and intentional design.
A Collection Anchored by Two Distinct Beds
Two upholstered beds anchor the collection. Melt features inflated curves and hand-applied ruching in a warm butter fabrication, creating a continuous gathered volume. In contrast, Rem pairs a curved, voluminous headboard with hand-finished pleats and minimal walnut supports, evoking a touch of ’80s glamour.
The collection’s strength lies in the pieces arranged around the beds. Edie, a side table, combines high-gloss lacquer with open negative space, while Notte, a storage design, features a shadow line detail across rhythmic curves in a rich walnut stain. These pieces are designed to stand out rather than blend into the background.
A Shift in Bedroom Furnishing
The Nico occasional chair and Plinto bench further showcase the collection’s blend of softness and structure. Nico holds a plush upholstered seat inside a polished architectural frame, while Plinto stacks softly rounded layers of oak into a low bench. The Tondo screen, a rotating circular form in oak and walnut, manipulates light and sightlines rather than simply occupying space.
Ellison Studios has chosen a palette inspired by the hour between 4 pm and dusk, featuring new fabrications and colors in Salento Butter, Scala Chalk, and Amalfi Tabacco. The collection’s 1970s nostalgia is balanced by the use of timber, which provides structure and keeps the softness grounded.
A Holistic Approach to Bedroom Design
What sets this collection apart is Ellison Studios’ holistic approach to bedroom design. Rather than treating the room as a bed with objects arranged around it, the studio has designed the entire room as a cohesive whole. This shift challenges traditional notions of bedroom furnishing and raises the space to a new level of comfort and sophistication.
The collection’s focus on intentional design and comfort is a refreshing change from the typical approach to bedroom furnishing. By prioritizing softness, structure, and cohesion, Ellison Studios has created a range that is both beautiful and functional. As a result, the bedroom is no longer an afterthought, but a well-designed and inviting space.
